Would you like to meet our personal assistants? This week, we introduce SmartPA Partner Gillian Waidson, based in Worcester. Discover her story below:
I’m very organised and confident that my 30 years working in administration make my skills and experience an asset to any client. I started as a receptionist in a law firm and had been a secretary and PA with different organisations including a jewellers, surveyors and Greystone before having children.
Like many mums in the late 90’s I took a career break to dedicate my time to our two children but unusually I completed my IPD from the Institute of Personnel and Development knowing that I planned to return to the workplace once the children started school.
When I first returned to the workplace I began as a secretary before building up to an Office Manager and working in the HR department of the prestigious Malvern College for six years.
Becoming a SmartPA Partner has been my best career decision to date, my husband says I’m happier and more relaxed even though I’m multi-tasking across different clients. I think it’s the first time I have felt challenged and in control in equal measure.
I completed an eight-week training programme with Head Office before I started with clients. The training was in-depth and introduced me to social media, new developments in the industry and how to keep an eye on brand consistency.
